Show #15!

We're back for show #15 and we have some good stuff for you this week!
Baseball season is just around the corner and Doug is getting all geared up for the season...even going so far as to get Jamie's wife to shop for him in Chicago. Who will take the National League this year?...the Cubs...the Padres...or some other team that we don't care about!
This week in TV we talk more about The Amazing Race and the Elimination Station and we talk about spring premieres including a review of Raines with Jeff Goldblum. Jamie talks about his favorite show that may not make it to next season, Friday Night Lights. We also talk about Dancing with the Stars and how you can bet for or against Heather Mills' prosthetic leg. Also, in our New to Us segment, Jamie reviews The Riches and Doug reviews Andy Barker, P.I.
In Movies, we run down the list of sequels coming out this summer. We also review the DVD of The Departed and discuss other movies released on DVD and in the theaters.
We have a new Pop Culture Confessional this week and we ask ourselves, "Have we reached an all-time low?" Check out the new question we have for you below and give us some feedback so you can be on the show too!

There is so much pop culture goodness waiting for you it is bursting at the seams! It's show #15 of The Summerhill Gang...

This Week's Fun Commercial is a Wrigley's Spearmint Gum ad from the 1950's.

TV

The Elimination Station over at CBS' The Amazing Race website is fun to check out. It shows the eliminated contestants hanging out in Acapulco, Mexico. In episode 4, Rob and Amber show up and in episode 5, Rob starts throwing people in the pool. Check out video...
Could Charla and Mirna possibly be the most annoying contestants ever on The Amazing Race? She what we mean in the clip "Charla is trapped in Mirna's world" from Episode 5 this season.

Spring Premieres are showing up on TV now. Just a few are The Riches on FX, Andy Barker P.I. and Raines on NBC, October Road on ABC, and The Wedding Bells on FOX.
What is this thing hosted by Donny Osmond called The Great American Dream Vote?

Who the heck is watching Dancing with the Stars? There must be a lot of you out there because it consistently appears at the top of the TV ratings. Check out a list of the contestants this season. Also, if you are so inclined, you can put money on whether Heather Mills' prosthetic leg will fly off on the show over at bodog.com.

New To Us
Jamie reviewed The Riches. This is an intricate drama with some comedy elements that is made most interesting by the acting of Eddie Izzard and Minnie Driver. Check out the show over at the FX website.

Doug reviewed Andy Barker P.I. Starring Andy Richter and produced by Conan O'Brien, this show has some promise with quirky comedy and mysteries solved within a 30 minute show. You can watch episodes online at NBC's website.

In other TV news:
Could Veronica Mars be cancelled? It is consistently low-rated, but is cited by many critics as a quality show that deserves to live on. Check out the blog entry over at TV Squad.

Movies
Check out the list of movies coming out this summer...it is sequel heaven!
  • May 4: Spider-Man 3
  • May 18: Shrek 3
  • May 25: Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End
  • June 13: Ocean’s Thirteen
  • June 15: Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer
  • June 22: Evan Almighty
  • June 29: Ratatouille, Live Free or Die Hard
  • July 4: Transformers
  • July 13: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
  • July 27: The Simpsons Movie

We both recently watched the DVD of the 2006 Best Picture winner, The Departed. We both thought it was a great movie with fine acting, excellent story, direction and cinematography. Definitely R-rated with much swearing and violence, but a great movie nonetheless.

Pop Culture Confessional
This week: If you could have a superpower/special ability, what would it be?

Doug's pick: To fly or be invisible...

Jamie's pick: To fly...oh my, we are so original...

New question: What song lyric did you think you knew that you later found out was really wrong?

A great example for you:
Listen to Creedence Clearwater Revival's song "Bad Moon Rising".
Is John Fogerty singing "there's a bathroom on the right?"

We are looking forward to all of your awesome flubbed song lyrics!
